Who may use Select

You must be at least 18 years old, legally able to enter this agreement, and using Select for your own personal, non-commercial dating purposes. You may not impersonate another person or create an account for someone else without authorization.

Your account and profile

Provide accurate, current information and use a photo of yourself that you have the right to submit. Keep your credentials private and tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

Profiles and profile changes may require human review. Select may approve, request changes, reject, pause or block a profile to operate and protect the service. Approval means only that the submission passed Select's review process; it is not an endorsement or identity guarantee.

How the service works

Select records comparisons and uses them to provide features such as Favorites and possible introductions. Results depend on participation, availability and the selections people make. Select does not promise a particular candidate, finalist, match, introduction, response or relationship.

During the beta, some of the profiles you compare are fictional test profiles created by Select, not real people.

During the beta, Select collects comparisons only. Finalists, introductions and contact sharing are not active.

Guest comparisons use sample content and browser-local history. Guest activity is not genuine participant evidence unless a supported conversion process expressly preserves it with sample provenance.

Select is currently free to use. Select sends email only to confirm your account and to deliver password-reset links you request; it does not send marketing messages or text messages.

Safety

SELECT DOES NOT CONDUCT CRIMINAL BACKGROUND SCREENINGS OF MEMBERS.

Human profile review is not a criminal background check, identity guarantee or safety certification. People can misrepresent themselves online. Use caution, protect personal and financial information, arrange your own transportation, tell someone where you are going, and meet in a populated public place. Read the complete Safety guidance.

Acceptable use

You may not:

• harass, threaten, exploit, deceive or discriminate against another person;
• submit unlawful, non-consensual, infringing or misleading content;
• seek money, financial information, passwords or verification codes from another user;
• scrape, copy, sell or build a database from profiles, photos or service responses;
• probe, bypass or interfere with authentication, access controls, rate limits, review, comparison integrity or security;
• use automation to create accounts, make selections or manipulate product results; or
• use information obtained through Select for advertising, surveillance, employment, housing, credit or another unrelated purpose.

Your content

You retain ownership of content you submit. You give Select a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, process, reproduce, crop and display that content only as reasonably needed to operate, secure and improve the service. This license ends when the content is no longer reasonably needed for those purposes, subject to retained records, backups, legal obligations and the rights of people who previously received an authorized disclosure.

Account controls and enforcement

You may pause participation or close your account using the available Account controls. Closing your account is permanent: it cannot be undone with Resume. Closing ends sign-in and releases your phone number, which can then be used to create a new account; your past profile revisions, choices, review decisions and consent records are kept as described in the Privacy notice. It is not the same as immediate erasure of all retained records. See the Privacy notice.

Select may restrict, suspend or close access when reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms, protect people or systems, comply with law, or respond to misuse. We may preserve relevant records while reviewing suspected misuse.

Availability and responsibility

Select is an evolving beta service and may change, experience interruptions or discontinue features. We will use reasonable care in operating the service, but it is provided on an “as available” basis to the extent permitted by law.

You are responsible for your interactions and decisions. Select is not a party to communications, meetings or relationships between users. Nothing in these Terms limits rights or responsibilities that cannot lawfully be limited.

Changes, governing law and contact

We may update these Terms as the service changes. Material changes will be presented through the service when appropriate. Continuing to use Select after revised Terms take effect means you accept the revised Terms.

Illinois law governs these Terms to the extent permitted by law. Before filing a dispute, please contact us so we can try to address it informally.
